gangsta

the kindred of the lost
invoked with coffee and loneliness
you discuss yourselves slowly into madness

out goes all the reasoned notions
in come
drinks
and potions
pills

they wake that morning and turn on the major stations
watch excitable people talking
about a predator
who creeps in the bushes
snatches kids
outside school yards

watch you from far
on the other side of sanity
see the storms
that blew apart your dark life
shredded you down
stripped your humanity
to the bare animal core
your ways have
left a cruel sneer on your face
an ugliness in your hard eyes
no makeup will hide

a settled look of disgust
smears the mask you wore this  last decade
your insides dry and brittle
ethics emptied out somewhere
accidently
along the way
pissed and puked into a stained toilet
there was no need for morality during the

Why are you surprised to find yourself in the line up?
